If you’ve ever seen me dance, you know that I don’t hold back.
Well, I don’t usually hold back. I admit that church is the one place I consistently find myself holding back. I mean, no one else is dancing… Well, no one that isn’t on stage.
But this song… I can hardly contain myself.
It is one of my all-time favorites. I know all the words. And they play it frequently at church. Oh to hear it live… The powerful lyrics of this song bring tears of gratitude to eyes every time I am blessed to participate in singing along.
If this is your first #MusicMonday post – know that I’m ALL about lyrics and this song has some great ones. Plus, the building momentum of a soft meditative praise that builds and bursts into gratitude feels like pure love for Jesus Christ spilling over from my heart. So good.
So essentially the song says- that here is the incredible God who does all these awesome (truest sense of the word) things… and has knowledge and power incomprehensible to every human… and He’s perfect, sinless and the most glorious thing EVER. And then He decides to do something that doesn’t really make sense.
What does the Most High do for you and me?
He bears my cross. He takes my place.
Oh wow. My puny little brain can’t even grasp the enormity of this gesture. The only perfect human gives His life so that you and I may be free both on earth and in heaven.
Why? Because He loves me THAT much?! Really? Why me? I’m kinda rotten inside at times. Why would the Most Powerful do that for me?
And with all of those thoughts and feelings of gratitude for this AMAZING GRACE, I sing and DANCE. And usually cry in humility. It’s a beautiful thing. Enjoy the little ping in your heart.
