#MusicMonday: No Man Is An Island by Tenth Avenue North #friendship #love

I was made for you. And you for me. Isn’t that sweet?

Yes, God created us for relationship and community. God Himself is plural. He is a “We”- The Trinity. He is in relationship with Himself.

It’s pretty mind-blowing when you think about it.

But how much in our society, do we prize autonomy? Most Americans unwittingly endure decades of brainwashing that says “You gotta look out for #1”. It’s buried deep in there. It’s kinda how our society rolls.

And I’m no different. I get focused. I block other (often more important things) out and go into hermit-mode.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with taking care of business… But I also think I wasted a lot of precious time being “an island”.

And God missed out on using me to love others.

So this song hit me. I sent it to a hurting friend too. True friendship is all about letting people go through their journey without judgement. It says “I am in your corner” and believe the best of you.

I won’t say edifying relationships are easy to find, but I will say it’s worth the search and effort.

If you don’t have true friendships and relationships on this earth- keep looking. Start by being the kind of person you want to attract. Good people are out there and God wants to love you through them, and you can help move the process along. Check out Bible-based churches in your area to get plugged in.

In the meantime- spend some time with Jesus. He’s the best pal a gal/guy could ever want. Who else would endure the cruelest type of punishment so you could be forgiven and spend eternity with The Creator? He’s already “all in”.

It is powerful for me to listen to the lyrics (below) as if they are from Jesus.
