This is SO a great song to kick off your Monday, if you are a baby Christian like me.

The first time I heard Shake by MercyMe I was very excited. I didn’t know they made Christian music I could swing dance to! This song just makes me wanna jump up and move my feet!

One of the things I love most about this song is the “fun” aspect. I find that Christianity can be a very serious business. How could it not? And though I love and appreciate slow and serious music, I’ve always had a soft spot for the fun stuff.

Thank you God for making this thing called dancing. It’s SO fun!

Anyway, all this growing in faith is challenging some of my ideas of what is fun to me. Some music I used to like makes me feel uncomfortable now to sing along with lyrics. Most television shows make me cringe. Even aimless flirting has lost its luster.

C.S. Lewis says God is like a dentist that doesn’t just fix the one thing you went to Him for… He starts poking around for other signs of decay and neglect. Ouch.

And so in many ways, I have been trying so hard to be what God wants me to be, I miss out on the giddy excitement of remembering that because He saved me, I am free. My salvation cannot be undone. Tweet this
