Arriba, Austin! It’s time to FIESTA!
No badge? No excuse. There is no charge for the 2nd Annual Texas Film Fiesta (TFF)so conference attendees as well as locals are invited to attend. Whaaa??

It’s true. In addition to hosting a slew of Media VIPs, the TFF will encourage networking, host an Instagram contest, drink $2.25 margaritas… and a take pictures with the pinata.

You should come out.

Lupe Valdez of Anteros Films and Mike Benavides with Oddly Nimble Pictures started Texas Film Fiesta last year and are expecting hundreds of attendees this year. Their mission is simply to host an event where everyone can gather, wristband or not.

I got involved because Lupe was one of the first people I reconnected with upon returning to Austin. He and I were in an acting class together about 8 years ago and he “talked me off the ledge” when I wanted to quit the workshop. He’s cool like that.

So I heard what Lupe and Mike were working on with TFF and thought it was a great fit for the Latinos in Media community I have been wanting to create.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how Latinos or Hispanics are not adequately represented in media, especially considering our population and buying power. I did a little online research and there seemed to be a void in community for Latinos in Media.

Well… I’m a problem-solver kind of girl. LatinosInMedia.com was available and I bought it. The bun is in the oven. Er. Anyway, I’m excited!

Born about 48 hours ago, this group promises to be a network of business-minded collaborators aimed at the uplifting of the Latino community. You can follow us on Twitter @LatinosInMedia, Facebook and Instagram.

Hope to see you at the TEXAS FILM FIESTA!
