Video: The Avocado Fruit Is Berry Delicious

Featured Video Play Icon

I knew avocados were one of those squirrelly foods that isn’t what you think initially. It was the fruit thing. But did you know that avocados are, more specifically, a berry?

Cool, huh? And that makes total sense because I am a berry freak and I love avocado! Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries… mmm. They are nature’s candy which is a hole separate blog post. Focus.

So, in the video above I gush over how much I love the little green rascals and why you should too.

I remember a time growing up when I liked guacamole and my younger brothers did not. So every time we went to a Mexican food restaurant they would give me their side of guacamole. Oh what a delight that was. They changed their mind and now I have to get to share the usually way too small bowl.

In any case โ€“ these days I mostly eat at home and always make sure I have avocados in stock. It’s the brilliant addition to virtually any meal. It’s like the berry cousin of bacon and the distant relative of cheese… but healthier!

If your meal is kind of boring โ€“ put avocado on top and you go gourmet an instant.

My three favorite ways to enjoy avocado are right out of the shell as a portable snack with lime and salt, as a delicious party dip (aka guacamole) and on top of soups and salads for a comforting creaminess.

Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke โ€“ you know what I mean?

Here are a few more creative recipes I’d like to try with avocados…
