[Dangriga, Belize] Hotel Highlight: Yok Ha Resort
โIs this real life?โ
That was one of my first thoughts as I approached the Island of Yok Ha Resort. Greeted by a family of workers and other guests, this private island has only 5 cabins and one restaurant. This is truly one of the most beautiful places Iโve ever visited. The entire island is only 3 acres with 5 guest cabins.
The gorgeous Belize Barrier Reef surrounds the island making every single thing you see and do THAT much better, because… TURQUOISE WATER!ย Seriously, just take a look at some snaps from my insta.
I’ll be honest, it was a little off to be the only single guest on the island.ย I didn’t to cramp the couple’s vibe going on.ย But I found ways to entertain myself as I do.
In my experience, enthusiasm matters. It makes a difference that’s often hard to explain but you feel it. Ambitious energy moves people and gives them permission to be enthusiastic as well. And so on. And so on.
All in all, I would rather go as a single, solo traveler- than not go at all.ย Or worse- go with someone that makes me wish I was single.ย Ugh- you know?

Even if I know little else… I know there is a God and that He loves me more in a moment than any human could love me in a lifetime.ย One has time to think deep thoughts out here.
I felt like a kid on the tours.ย None of the other ladies on the island wanted to go fishing in this photo, but they didn’t have to ask me twice. Maybe Iโm a tomboy. Or maybe Iโm just an ordinary girl who likes to do extraordinary, exciting and adventurous things. Either way… I’m in. ??โโ๏ธ??

Keep In Mind
- Only wifi is weak and in the common areas. This is not a super work-friendly resort (maybe that’s the point) so try to finish your business before you come to “unplug”.ย Pun definitely intended.
- Bring snacks.ย I recommend dried fruits and nuts.ย The kitchen will feed you whenever you are hungry, but you won’t regret packing a few staples.
- If you have special meal requests, tell the kitchen before you arrive, so they can make sure to have it in stock.
