[Belmopan, Belize] Hotel Highlight: Caves Branch Jungle Resort

Oh, Caves Branch.  I didn’t really think I was a “flowers” girl, but turns out… I am.

So first of all, shout out to Mike from Midas Belize Resorts for giving me a ride to Caves Branch. One of the nicest things I can say about so many Belizeans is that they truly seem to all want good things for their country, not just themselves. It’s a sense of community that I don’t feel everywhere.

So Mike drops me off in what seems like the middle of nowhere. But there was a lovely welcome center (with great cookies) and as I walked around, I began to see a very well thought-out jungle campus with beautiful flowers everywhere!  Ian’s story of development the property is a fascinating one and I’m sure he’ll be happy to tell you over dinner when you visit.

[Caves Branch, Belize] Mosquitos love my sweet brown skin. ☕?? This, however, is of little consultation to me when I count the DOZENS of bites all over my body. But when I stand near a waterfall you can hardly see them. And for a moment- they dont even itch. I can take some unsolicited bites because… Welcome to the jungle. ???? @cavesbranchbelize is beautifully done combining both the natural beauty of the jungle and some thoughtfully designed additions like this pool. [Cayo, Belize]  I know what you are thinking… ????? What kind of flower is that?  Well, this vibrant colored flower is called Red Ginger and it thrives in humid conditions like those in Belize.  Quite lovely, don’t you agree? And if you’ll notice in the background, Belize it or not, that’s me taking a private outdoor shower in the middle of the jungle.  Wild, right?! This could be YOU.  Whaddaya think? ????? KEEP IN MIND
? It’s the jungle. Bring bug spray.
? Plan to unplug, for real. There is only wi-fi in the dining area, and they turn it off at dinner.
? Meals at the resort are $15, $15 and $25 respectively for a breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet.
? Dinnertime is community seating at long picnic tables and conversation is encouraged. Sit at the far end of the dining hall to have first dibs on the buffet line.

JENTASTIC TRAVEL TIPS
? Spend some time in the nearest city, Belmopan. Try some local flavor at the market in the center of the city.  You can’t miss it.
? Bring your own bug spray. It’s $15US in the gift shop.
? Take a shower outside
